The Team
|
Team Lodge Losers trace their origins back to the autumn of 2000,
when Rob and Carl started as freshers at Southampton University.
After 2 years living in some of the worst student accommodation in
Southampton with 5 other like minded souls, the spirit of the Losers
Lodge was born. A succession of budget motors, a van and a boat
graced the driveway of the Losers Lodge throughout our time at
University. One night after one quadruple vodka too many, we decided
to give the Plymouth – Dakar a go…

The Drivers:
 |
Rob, the engineer of the team, has just graduated from 5 long and
painful years studying Electro-Mechanical engineering. Rob is known
for his reputation of being able to fix anything with a Haynes
manual and a roll of Gaffer tape, a skill that will be put to the
test on the rally. Robs student loans have been invested in a
multitude of bad cars and expensive holidays, and the obligatory
brown speedboat. Rob is a professional filer at a large corporation
in Bournemouth, and is in need of a vision. Any job offers:

Carl, the Visa card and briber in chief of the team, graduated after
3 years of Oceanography and promptly forgot everything. Student
loans were invested in a number of trips, one of which involved
driving a 15 year old Transit van to Istanbul in 5 days with 2 other
members of the Losers Lodge. 21 days and 16 countries later the
spirit of the road was installed for life. Carl is now defending
Queen and Country as an Officer in the Royal Navy, controlling fast
jets when not planning the next trip. Unfortunately, (for Rob
anyway) Carl is deployed abroad until 2 weeks before the Rally
starts, so Rob will be very busy….

And the people back home who make it all possible:
Craig, the webmaster, travel agent and general organiser of the
team.
